ATEIM Initiates Sharing of Best Teaching Practices Workshop
“We need to capacitate the TEIs in order to better improve the quality of Pre-Service Education,” OIC Director, CHED Region XI, Dr. Edward S. Aquino posed a challenge to the thirty-two (32) participants of the training-workshop on “Sharing of Best Teaching Practices: The Field Study Experience” slated January 21-22, 2010 at the USeP Training Center.
The Association of Teacher Education Institutions in Mindanao (formerly BEAM Pre-Service) has initiated a conference-workshop which served as venue for Non-member TEIs to learn from the experiences of the lead colleges and universities in Mindanao in the implementation of Field Study Courses in effect to the CHED mandate for curricular revision and review of TEI curriculum. The conference was participated in by twenty (20) colleges and universities all over Mindanao and Visayas regions which are non-members of ATEIM; namely: Mindanao University of Science & Technology, Jose Maria College, Philippine Women’s College, Central Mindanao University, MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, Aces Tagum College, Mati Polytechnic College, Visayas State University, Zamboanga City State Polytechnic College, Bukidnon State College, Ateneo de Davao University, Davao Doctors College, Davao del Norte State College, MATS College of Technology, Caraga State University, MSU General Santos City, Davao Central College, Holy Child School of Davao-College, Liceo de Davao and Southern Philippines Agriculture-Business, Marine and Aquatic School of Technology.
The speakers were Dr. Edward S. Aquino – OIC CHED Director; Dr. Magdalena Licas – USeP; Dr. Thelma Alderite – HCDC; Dr. Priscilla Costes – USM Kabacan; and Prof. Kirt Anthony Diaz – Cor Jesu College of Digos. They were the lead persons in the conference who shared their best practices on the implementation of the field study courses. The highlight of the training-workshop was the course and syllabus mapping which help the participants to align properly their curricular offering from the CHED mandate.
“I am very glad that I attended this workshop because it is an eye-opener for us to examine also our own practices and align it to the CHED standards” one of the participants beamed when given the time to give impressions about the workshop.
