Seminar Workshop on Context-Based module, book and syllabus writing on March 10-12, 2010 at Jade Beach Resort, Matina-Aplaya, Davao City

This Seminar-Workshop is aimed at equipping the TEI faculty on the process of writing context-based modules, workbooks and even books to tailor-fit to the needs of the target learners. We all know that Course module or workbook is an essential tool in an academic institution. It is designed to provide a critical overview of the theory and practice of the subject/course. It can also facilitate teaching-learning process in effective self-paced and interactive way to graduate or undergraduate students and even to practitioners and professionals.

In the academe, production of instructional materials is one of the four-fold mandates of every university or a college. It is deemed as one of the important areas where faculty can exercise and practice their expertise in designing instruction that should tailor-fit to the needs and interests of the target learners. It can also help elevate the accreditation status of the college or the university as well  because teacher-made instructional materials is one of the areas that accreditors would look into and that a college can gain points by producing teacher-made modules.

Training-Workshop on Strategic Planning for Extension Projects April 2010

This training-workshop focuses on the faculty development of a college in designing viable and relevant extension projects and programs to disadvantage community. It is a sad fact that not all the extension project really responded to the needs of the people in the community. Some programs and projects are designed just to comply the requirements for extension as one of the areas for accreditation purposes. Hence, there is a need to strategically craft extension programs that should respond to the needs of the target recipients in the community.

Training-Workshop on Statistical Analysis Using SPSS

This training envisions to equip the faculty-researcher the necessary skills in using the most current and updated software – the Statistical Program for Social Sciences. This requires participants to get oriented with thorough exercise in using SPSS in generating data and evaluating data using the software to fast track the research outputs.

Training – Workshop on Instructional Design for Online Learning

Today, we are living in a computer world in just a touch of a screen all information is displayed in a screen. Indeed, technology is really working on a fantastic speed which facilitates the teaching and learning easily through virtual learning environment. Hence, this training is designed to respond to the demands of developing online teaching and learning in the academe.

Effective Extension Project Management

This training-workshop is aimed at developing and designing extension projects which will address sustainability development to a target recipients. Needless to say that today there is a need to carefully design and extension project in an effective way. Hence, this training focuses mainly on developing management and leadership skills in initiating projects and programs that should address the needs of the people in disadvantaged areas, deprived sector in the society.

Seminar-Workshop on Technical Writing and Presentation

This training-workshop will run 3 days sometime on July 2010. It aims mainly to equip the participants with the necessary technical skills in writing technical research papers ranging from preparing capsule statement proposal, project proposal, action researches etc and the presentation of the paper. So, in a broader context, the training will enhance the writing and speaking skills of the participants in the area of research.

Training – Workshop on Curriculum planning and Development for ECE

This training-workshop is geared towards curriculum development for early childhood education (ECE) for colleges and universities which do not have ECE program yet. It provides avenue for sharing best practices of those lead TEIs who successfully offered the ECE program in their education curricula and to assist the TEIs in offering the program. The training will take three (3) days from assessing, planning, designing, developing and implementing phases of the curriculum.

Training – Workshop on Test Construction and Item Analysis

Assessing and evaluating students’ academic performance is a crucial role of a teacher. If the tools for evaluation are not really valid and reliable, certainly, the academic performance of the students is affected. Hence, there is a need to reorient teachers on constructing test items and analyze the results for future improvement and modification.  This is the goal of this training workshop – to reorient the teachers on the principles and theories on test construction and to provide them an opportunity to practice the skills in writing test questions which are valid and reliable that tailor-fit to the standards of test construction.

This training-workshop is aimed at reorienting teacher educators in authentic assessment and its implications in learning. This training workshop will run 3 days including syllabus enhancement.

This training-workshop is intended for Pre-Service Teachers in preparing them to be better teachers in the field. This workshop deals on dynamic classroom management to respond to the changing behavior of our students nowadays.
